|"A Time For All Things" by Rabbi Emanuel Gettinger
There is a time for all things under the sun.
A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.
There may be a time for all things but no thing is meant to persist for all the time.
There is a time to kill but it is limited and then it is time to heal.
There is a time to hate but it must not endure forever.
War must be engaged but it must be transient.
Peace may be elusive but it must be pursued until it is achieved.
Love has its time but it is not for all the time.
But then, there are some things for all the time.
Our freedom is for all times and forever.
"Z'man Cheruseinu" in our prayers refers to the time of our liberation.
The freedom which it brought about, our "Cherus Olam", endures, is a constancy and is eternal.
