Despite Team Yerushalayim’s loss this week, four players for Team Yerushalayim played very hard. Play Smart
The Hapoel Silver Spring Soccer Club selected four “Play Smart” players of the week this week. The Hapoel Silver Spring Soccer Club’s first “Smart Player” of the week plays for Team Tiveria. This player not only scored Team Tiveria’s goal early in the first half to tie the score with Team Tsfat at 1-1, but he also played the entire second half of the game in goal for Team Tiveria and had some outstanding goalie saves. He has great feet and he has great hands. A truly talented young man. And, on this day he performed beautifully on the soccer field. From Team Tiveria, the winner of the “Play Smart” player award for the second week in a row, the first Hapoel Silver Spring “Play Smart” player of the week is...Yisroel Teitelbaum.

The remaining three Hapoel Silver Spring “Smart" Player’s of the week are from Team Hevron. Hevron won their game 7-0. And several players for Team Hevron had great games. But, three players really stood out. Danny Dasher played a beautiful game and had two goals to show for his effort. A very impressive performance. Naftali Simcha Swartz played a beautiful game and had a goal and an assist to show for his effort. A very impressive performance. And, lastly, Jonathan Galitzer had his usual three goals (a hat-trick) and, more importantly, passed the ball both creatively and beautifully throughout the game. A very impressive performance. Team Tsfat lost their last two games of the season. Team Tsfat had scored 1 goal in the past two games. Team Tsfat lost to Team Tiveria 3-0 last week. Many teams would just say that they “just aren’t playing well” and would give up. But, not Team Tsfat. Team Tsfat showed up ready to play today and to make up for their loss last week to Team Tiveria. Team Tsfat looked great. After watching Team Tsfat play today, anyone can see how talented, skillful, and driven this squad is. There are two Mensch players of the week this week and both are from team Tsfat. These two players from Team Tsfat combined for five goals for Team Tsfat. The first player scored 3 goals (a hat-trick) and had two assists while the second player had two goals and one assist. Both players dominated the entire playing field. The offensive scoring duo of Team Tsfat is back! And, the two “Mensch Player’s of the week, from Team Tsfat are... Dovid Feldman and Akiva Singer.

The Mud Bowl
What do you do when you have a half hour until the start of the first soccer game of the day, a field that is perfectly lined, two brand new soccer goals, a ball, and several players and parents from Team Michael, Rafael, Gavriel and Uriel who love to play soccer? You play the Hapoel Silver Spring Soccer Club Mud Bowl! And, what a game it was. After so many weeks of Team Michael, Rafael, Uriel, and Gavriel playing against each other and the parents standing on the sidelines, it was great fun to get us all out on the field playing a brief 30 minute match. There were many great shots, goalie saves, and defensive plays, BUT, that is NOT why we play the Hapoel Silver Spring Soccer Club Mud Bowl. We play to get...muddy. And, two players stood out as being exceptionally muddy. The “Mud Bowl Muddy Players” on this day were... Naftali Schwartz (Team Rafael) and Yaakov Singer (Team Michael).

Play Hard
Many players during the Team Rafael vs. Team Gavriel game played very well. One player even had a hat-trick (3 goals) during the game. Many players played hard. But, one player played very hard. Though not scoring a goal or an assist during this game, this player was “the engine” that carried Team Gavriel to victory. The fans who had the benefit of watching the Team Gavriel vs. Team Rafael game will not forget this game for a long, long time. These spectators may have watched the best game in the history of the Hapoel Silver Spring Soccer Club. We are very proud of the boys from both Team Gavriel and Team Rafael. Yet, the league is particularly proud of Team Rafael. There are times when a team plays great. Matter of fact, the team can play the best game of their entire season; yet, this exact same team may still lose the game. This was the case for Team Rafael. Team Rafael played amazing. Matter of fact, Team Rafael played their best game of the season. Avi Pines was all over the field and had his best game of the season. Simmy Ruchelman was all over the field and had his best game of the season. Hirsh Milgraum played his best game of the season both offensively and defensively. Shmueli Mark played his best game of the season both on the field and as a goalie. Naftali Schwartz was all over the field and had a diving save as a goalie on Yitzie Feldman’s shot that may be the best individual effort play of the season for any player in the league. The league is very proud of Team Rafael. And, the Hapoel Silver Spring Soccer Club is proud to announce that the "Play Smart" Players of the week are...
