THE G'DOLA LEAGUE Player Honors - Week Five

Boy’s Division: G'dola League (4th - 6th Grade Boys)

Game Summaries

Team Tiveria is the only team to have beaten Team Yerushalayim during this season and, this week, Team Yerushalayim avenged that loss with a 2-1 win. Matty Miller had the first goal for Yerushalayim while Noach Bergman had the second. Noach Aryeh Schwartz had the lone goal for Team Tiveria.

Team Tsfat played Team Chevron and were locked at 0-0 late into the second half. Then, with seconds left to play, Tsfat's Dovid Feldman scored the game winner. Dani Singer had the assist on the goal. Needless to say, the Tsfat players and fans were very enthusiastic about the win. Probably the leagues most exciting game of the day.

Week 5 Honors
The "Play Hard" Player of the Week: This player was a large part of Team Tiveria's success last season and, this season, he continues to play an integral role in Tiveria's success. During today's game vs. Yerushalayim, this player had one of his better games. Though he did not score a goal or have an assist, it was obvious that he was "making things happen". The first Play Hard Player of the Week is... Yoel Jaffe, Team Tiveria.

The second and final Play Hard Player of the week played a beautiful game at defense for Team Tsfat. This player is capable of doing so much for Team Tsfat and... that is exactly what he does week in and week out. He may be one of the team's hardest working and most valuable players. For his great play this week, the second Play Hard Player of the Week is... Gedalia Kott, Team Tsfat.

Past "Play Hard" Award Winners this Season:
Week 1- Dani Singer, Team Tsfat and Matty Miller, Yerushalayim
Week 2- Shalom Sukol, Chevron
Week 3- Daniel Felber and Jordan Frances, Chevron, Jason Frances, Yerushalayim, and Akiva Singer and Dovid Feldman, Team Tsfat.
Week 4- Jason Kardon, Yerushalayim and Team Tsfat (Ami Ifrah, Ezra Feldman, Dovid Feldman, Ariel Baron, Yaakov Rosen, Akiva Singer, and Dani Singer).

The "Play Smart" Players of the Week: One player for Team Tiveria played exceptionally well today. This player quite frankly plays very well every week. Matter of fact, he may be the most creative force for Team Tiveria. He creates plays, he creates assists, and today, he created his third goal of the season. And, it truly was a pretty goal. For playing and playing smart, the first Play Smart Player of the Week is... Noach Aryeh Schwartz, Tiveria.

The Hapoel League committee rarely gives one player an Award two weeks in a row, but this player simply can not be ignored. He was fantastic in goal for Team Chevron today. Last week he won the Mensch Award. This week he's going to win the Play Smart Award. The second Play Smart Player of the Week is... Yisroel Mond, Team Chevron.

Past "Play Smart " Award Winners this Season:
Week 1- Noach Bergman, Yerushalayim.
Week 2- Max Byer (Goalie), Ami Ifrah, and Ari Byer, Team Tsfat.

Week 4- Yossi Miller and Elazar Reingold, Yerushalayim.

The "Mensch" Players of the Week: The Mensch Player of the Week this week has been playing amazingly all season, but, simply has not been scoring so many goals. He is a major part of Team Yerushalayim's success this season, yet, thus far this season, his major contribution to the team hadn't been goals. And, today, this player not only scored his first goal of the season, but he scored a gorgeous goal. He dribbled right and cut the shot back to the left and rocketed his shot into the goal's opposite side netting and... a gorgeous goal. For having possibly one of the best shots in the league, possibly one of the best goals of the season thus far, and for his patience in waiting for his first goal of the season, the Mensch Player of the Week is... Matty Miller, Team Yerushalayim.

Past "Mensch" Award Winners this Season:

The first league match saw the reigning league champions, the Netanya Orange Hawks, play the Haifa Green Eagles. The Orange Hawks were looking to finish the regular season with an undefeated record and change their current undefeated streak from 12 games to 13 games while the Green Eagles were looking to make sure that the Orange Hawks did not finish the regular season with an undefeated record and were hoping to break the Hawks 12 game undefeated streak. Both teams played exceptionally well and... the giant has fallen. The Green Eagles beat the Orange Hawks 2-0 in an unbelievable game. The Green Eagles goals were scored by Iky Cohen and Tzvi Wallach. This game will be remembered for many years to come both in our memories and in the league record books.

Avi Pines scored two goals while the leagues leading goal scorer, Naftali Schwartz, added one goal.
