The Rockville division of the Hapoel Soccer league saw a number of good games, on both the boys and girls side, on opening weekend a week and a half ago.

In the kindergarten through second-grade division for the boys, the goals came in bunches during their first week of competition.

The Aqua team rolled to a 6-1 victory over the Orange. Ari Schlactus led Aqua with three goals, followed by Andrew Stein (two goals) and Golan Khen (one).

Boaz Schwartz scored the only Orange goal.

The Gold team did just as well as Aqua in their 6-2 victory over Navy. Joshua Shames led the winners with two goals while Eli Soumekhian, Eli Winston, Avi Skolnick and Joseph Katz each scored once.

Jacob Udler and Noah Richman scored one goal apiece for Navy in the losing effort.

The third through fifth-grade division also has four teams, but they played one game with two teams combining to play against the other two.

That's where the Orange/Aqua got together to pull out a 4-1 victory over Gold/Navy. Eli Winkler led the way with two goals. Milo Satinsky and Aron Kreiser both scored one goal apiece.

Eric Shalooway scored the lone Gold Navy goal.

On the girls' side, the Gold/Navy team combined for an easy 6-0 victory over Orange/Aqua in the kindergarten through second-grade division. Shlomit Bernstein got a hat trick while teammates Leah Winkler (two goals) and Maayan Naveh (one) added the other three scores.

The third through fifth-grade division also had combined teams. This time, the Orange/Aqua scored a 4-1 victory over Gold/Navy.

Rebecca Sklute scored two goals while Ashira Rosen and Danielle Kaufmann both got one. Caroline Plum got the only Gold/Navy goal.

Soccer-cise for the very little boys got off to a good start at both Rockville and Silver Spring. In Rockville, Benjy Sussman, Samuel Winkler, Adam Stein, Ian Repie, Sammy Melnick, Ethan Aronovich, Alexander Schupak, Elie Schneider, Jordan Schupak, Liem Shrensky and Samuel Schreiber all played very well.

The group was a little bigger in Silver Spring -- and also featured girls. On the boys' side were Zev Ravin, Binyamin Hadar, Abie McNally, Jamie Margulies, Noah Osofsky, Benjamin Guggenheim, Andrew Pinchot, Zvi Krestt, Simon Goldberg, Julian Cohen, Caleb Kasten, Simcha Katz, Sammy Margulies, Menachem Abrams, Gil Kustanowitz, Yonah Gross, Isaac Kushnir, Benjamin Marzouk, Ilan Cohn, Asher Falk, Noam Berman, Benjamin Lowenthal and Benjamin Winters.

For the girls: Dalya Offer, Liat Rozmaryn, Atara Esther Bernstein, Miri Coplin, Meirav Solomon, Galit Roth, Brooke Hollander and Sarah Tabin.

Because of early holiday deadlines, results from the second week will be in next week's issue.
