The Hapoel fifth-grade basketball team started its season in a Montgomery County Recreation league last weekend with a performance that every coach would love.

The Hapoel Seahawks rolled to a 34-9 victory over the Dominators (Bethesda), using strong defense and balanced scoring to lead the way.

Tough man-to-man defense shut down the Dominators throughout the game, stopping the Bethesda team from getting anything going on offense.

But offense wasn't any problem for the Seahawks, led by Jonah Riffkin. He finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds and controlled play in the paint.

Daniel Zweben and Mory Gould gave Hapoel plenty of help. Zweben finished with 12 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Gould added six points, eight rebounds, five steals and four assists.

Eli Horn (seven rebounds) and Jacob Glassman (six rebounds) helped on the boards. Noah Green added four rebounds and two steals, and Akiva Glashofer helped with four steals and three rebounds as the Seahawks got a little help from a lot of places.
